LR fault or Publish plugin fault ?

Questions or issues regarding any Koken plugin.

Forum rules
As of late, we have been seeing cases where some of you have been posting multiple types of questions within a singular type of topic...

This makes searching here a nightmare for people whom are attempting to find out whether or not their question has already been asked, or possibly even answered. Therefore, I would like to implement some very basic rules, which I think everybody will be happy with, given that they will lead to better search results.

  1. All public communication is done in English
  2. ONE question per topic
  3. Make the title descriptive
  4. If it's regarding a theme: make sure you mention the theme name.
  5. Leave a URL to your site, since sometimes, custom "hacks" and CSS will be uniqe to your site.

I believe that these simple rules will not only make our lives easier, but also the lives of our visitors :D

I am of the opinion that ignoring these requests will make it harder for us all.
Plus, we won't be able to actually mark an issue/topic as solved, since it would be more difficult to determine what we're actually trying to solve! For example: Are we addressing the first, second or third question?

LR fault or Publish plugin fault ?

Postby coolmatt » Tue 02 May 2017, 19:58

Hello folks,

I am new to the community.
I set up my server and koken a couple of weeks ago and, so far, evreything is running smoothly... except this little issue : today I added some new photos to an album and I was going to click "Publish" when I noticed that all the other photos were marked "modifiied" and had to be "re-published" ... but I made no modifications on these !! I checked my other albums : same.
So I am wondering : which is the culprit ? LR or the plugin ?
I guess there must be some kind of sync mecanism working behind the scene : checking file timestamps, file size, or else... ?
Maybe it's LR that does a maintenance job, updates its database and then the plugin is confused and thinks there was a modification...

Has anyone experienced this behaviour ?

Thanks for your help.
matt.

This is solely handled by LR it self, Koken never touches the files on your computer.

LR will recognize any difference to the file database as a img change (i.e you add a keyword or something) and tell you that it's changed and asking you to republish.
You can however, right click on the img in question and mark it as recent, and by that avoid uploading it again,

Bjarne,

Thank you for your answer.

You are right. This is actually exactly what happened : I added keywords to my images. But since Koken does not use LR tags (... does it ?) I could not imagine the photos had to be republished. But now that I am aware of that I know what to do : tag my images before the first publication.

Regards,
m.

Yes! The keywords defined in LR are transferred with the pictures and other meta data to Koken and can be displayed together with the images. It is possible in LR to define that a tag should NOT be exported this way. You have to do that for each tag you define in your LR taglist (.... maybe there is an overall option to export no tag at all which I haven't seen yet ...)
