Forum rules
As of late, we have been seeing cases where some of you have been posting multiple types of questions within a singular type of topic...

This makes searching here a nightmare for people whom are attempting to find out whether or not their question has already been asked, or possibly even answered. Therefore, I would like to implement some very basic rules, which I think everybody will be happy with, given that they will lead to better search results.

  1. All public communication is done in English
  2. ONE question per topic
  3. Make the title descriptive
  4. If it's regarding a theme: make sure you mention the theme name.
  5. Leave a URL to your site, since sometimes, custom "hacks" and CSS will be uniqe to your site.

I believe that these simple rules will not only make our lives easier, but also the lives of our visitors :D

I am of the opinion that ignoring these requests will make it harder for us all.
Plus, we won't be able to actually mark an issue/topic as solved, since it would be more difficult to determine what we're actually trying to solve! For example: Are we addressing the first, second or third question?

Images won't show up

Postby Carsten » Fri 08 Feb 2019, 13:15

Now that I've berated about the NetObjects support, I describe my real problem here:

I have a problem publishing higher resolution images. I have shown images with a maximum edge length of 2048 px on my website so far. In times of 4k screens I wanted to raise the resolution moderatly to a max. edge length of 2496 px, but after upload you can see in the library and on the live site, with a very few exceptions, only the loading wheel for all pictures. Multiple times building the image cache did not help either.
That behaviour can be reproduced, if I upload the same images in the lower resolution all is ok, do I upload them with the higher edge length it's the same problem.

Does Koken have any limitations regarding file size or edge length of images or what may be the reason that the images are not loaded? I know for sure my provider doesn't have so. Many thanks for any hint.

Best regards,
Carsten

This has probably to do with the HiDPI (Retina) publishing, and I my self has chosen to disable this for my site, due to exactly what you're describing...

For a more "in depth" description of the img handling you can read the Format images for importing articles :ugeek:

Thanks for your reply, Bjarne. Yes, I know this article (Format images for importing). Based on this I've uploaded my pictures in the size 2048 px until today. Further in the Image Publishing Settings, Quality/Sharpness, the size Huge is also defined as 2048px. That leads me - together with my experience - to the assumption that Koken supports higher resolutions only limited if at all.
I can reproduce the problem at any time, no matter what I upload, if the images are larger than 2048 px at the long edge, only a very few get displayed, if I upload max 2048 px everything is ok.
I have also turned off and tested the HiDPI setting, unfortunately without success, it hasn't changed anything.

I would be interested to know if other users can load / display higher resolution images without problems, unfortunately I don't succeed.
