[FIXED] Slideshow settings not saving

Error messages, failures, broken content.
Forum rules
As of late, we have been seeing cases where some of you have been posting multiple types of questions within a singular type of topic...

This makes searching here a nightmare for people whom are attempting to find out whether or not their question has already been asked, or possibly even answered. Therefore, I would like to implement some very basic rules, which I think everybody will be happy with, given that they will lead to better search results.

  1. All public communication is done in English
  2. ONE question per topic
  3. Make the title descriptive
  4. If it's regarding a theme: make sure you mention the theme name.
  5. Leave a URL to your site, since sometimes, custom "hacks" and CSS will be uniqe to your site.

I believe that these simple rules will not only make our lives easier, but also the lives of our visitors :D

I am of the opinion that ignoring these requests will make it harder for us all.
Plus, we won't be able to actually mark an issue/topic as solved, since it would be more difficult to determine what we're actually trying to solve! For example: Are we addressing the first, second or third question?

[FIXED] Slideshow settings not saving

Postby DanXM » Sun 23 Oct 2016, 21:39

Hi there,

I've just installed the Oxygen slideshow plugin so I can have a slideshow with controls. Everything works great except when I try to make changes to the slideshow settings in the site panel, publishing the site does not send send the selected settings over to the live site.

If I then refresh the Koken site page the settings have reverted to default.

I have tried making a slideshow from the same album with the stock plugin and I am able to save setting with that. One difference I noticed was at the bottom of the settings, the message says:

'Edits will apply to all slideshows in the Essays slideshow group.'

Whereas the Oxygen message says:

'Edits will apply to all slideshows in the albums-f8fd5ac2beee32ed81b824b6568f4466 slideshow group.'

Other than that I can't find any problems with it. I would be happy to even just change the default values in the code, it's not a gallery that will change. Here's a link to the page:

Hi Dan!
Unfortunately I can confirm this behavior... :oops:

Will have to look in to this a bit before I can give you an answer here :cry:
Looks as there is something changed in the core slideshows that I might have missed :evil:

I'm trouble shooting it right now, and may have a temp fix for you... :roll:

If you dont mind editing the plugin by your self that is :ugeek:

  1. Open up plugin.php in a text edtor (i.e note pad or TextEdit)
  2. Back up plugin.php
  3. Find:

    Code: Select all

          <koken:pulse source="album" filter:id="{$attributes['album']}" jsvar="pulse{$slideUnique}" group="albums-{$slideUnique}" next="#sldshw-next{$slideUnique}" previous="#sldshw-prev{$slideUnique}" toggle="#sldshw-play{$slideUnique}" link_to="lightbox" />
  4. Change that to:

    Code: Select all

          <koken:pulse source="album" filter:id="{$attributes['album']}" jsvar="pulse{$slideUnique}" group="og-slideshow{$slideID}" next="#sldshw-next{$slideUnique}" previous="#sldshw-prev{$slideUnique}" toggle="#sldshw-play{$slideUnique}" link_to="lightbox" />
  5. Save plugin.php and upload it to your plugin directory overwriting the original
  6. Clean the site caches
Now you should be able to change settings, and have them stick :ugeek:
